TDWR Case Study - ARC Technology Solutions was awarded a $1.1 Million contract from the Federal Aviation Administration for the supply of a new Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) Receiver module. The new Receiver will replace four legacy modules within the system, and provide improved operation and sustainability.

Job Title: Applications Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meets with customers to discuss their application in order to understand their testing requirements.

  • Reviews customer equipment specifications and addresses areas of compliance and exceptions.

  • Holds meetings with appropriate internal department members to review customer’s requirements to obtain their input and estimates for labor hours content.

  • Develops test system concepts including Turn-Key Systems and assumes responsibility for cost of sales estimates. Contacts major component sub-suppliers to obtain quotes for equipment.

  • Prepares or supervises preparation of customer proposals, including proposal drawings.

  • Provides active sales assistance and coordinates customer requirements with the sales force.

  • Reviews proposals and related costs with management and sales to determine selling price.

  • Presents test system proposals to customers with sales.

  • Writes or supervises writing of order specifications which sufficiently define and clarify customer requirements.

  • Holds turnover meetings for orders with departments and provides documentation for what was sold and the appropriate budget and ascertains that the appropriate departments understand these.

  • Remains current on competitors and their products


  • The preferred candidate will possess:

  • BSEE

  • 5 years in design of functional test systems.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of PXI, LXI and GPIB instrumentation

  • 10% to 15% travel required.



  • The following skills are a plus, but not required:

  • Knowledge of LabVIEW.

    Job Title: Sales Engineer

    ARC Technology Solution, LLC provides Functional Test System design, development, and integration solutions to commercial customers and government organizations. Our strength is our innate ability to understand customer applications and provide innovative solutions exceeding expectations; the Sales Engineer play a key role is our success.

    Reporting to ARC’s Director of Sales, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the sales cycle by generating target accounts, creating leads, capturing requirements, technical quoting, selling, and customer follow-up. The candidate must have a strong ability to understand and document customers' requirements, identify design solutions, along with the customer’s time-frame and budget. Additionally, they should be able to address project risk: technical, logistical, scheduling, and pricing to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation process upon award.

    The Sales Engineer must have excellent communication skills, strong sales ability, technical expertise, and the ability to work well within a team, or independently. The Sales Engineer must also be able to communicate complicated technical material clearly and effectively with customers, as well as, ARC’s internal technical and management staff.

    Job Title: Hardware/Software Test Engineer

    ARC is a premier solution provider of turn-key functional test systems. Test systems typically involve analog, digital, and/or RF testing involving pneumatic and/or electrical fixturing for various industries. The ideal engineering candidate is a highly motivated, self-starting, individual who enjoys finding solutions to test related design challenges. Up to 10% domestic travel for customer on-site work may be required. Must be detail oriented and have a proven ability to organize, analyze, set priorities, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

    As a key member of the Engineering team this candidate will be involved in: capturing and interpreting customer requirements; developing technical specifications and ATPs; rapid prototyping functional test development applications; system integrating/troubleshooting and validating test solutions with measurement hardware; leading PDR & CDR discussions with regard to the software architecture/implementation; creating and maintaining project documentation in accordance with ARC procedures; contributing to, and receiving, peer code-reviews. The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, varying in scope, as well as adhering to an implementation timelines which meet or exceed the customer's delivery and expectations is a requirement.

    Job Requirements:

    A test engineer with relavent "hands-on" design and implementation experience. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication, and problem solving skills. Experience in software documentation review, writing and implementing test plans, manual system level test cases and procedures. Familiarity of technical concepts relating to Instrumentation, Data Acquisition, and Signal Conditioning is required. Proficiency in LabVIEW is a must, National Instruments certification is highly desirable. Programming experience in VB.NET, C/C++ (or other languages), or National Instruments TestStand is also a plus.

    Education Requirements

    A BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is required.
