Software Engineer II

Basic Function

Implements, documents, debugs, and supports automated test applications using a variety of development environments, including National Instrument LabVIEW, C/CVI, TestStand, and the .NET languages.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with hardware engineers under minimal supervision to develop and deploy fully automated test system solutions for a wide range of customers and applications
  • Successfully completes mid level training and certification programs relating to software development for the test and measurement industry
  • Understands, adheres to and contributes to the improvement of ARC’s standard operating procedures.
  • Independently communicates directly with customers and vendors to solve technical problems
  • Architects and implements small (<120 man hour) projects independently
  • Refactors inherited code to adhere to ARC standards and industry best practices
  • Provides constructive code review feedback to peers
  • Creates required SOP Engineering documentation, and utilize the company-wide ERP system for project success
  • Some local and national travel will be required, but is typically less than 15%.

Skills

  • Understands software architectures, engineering practices and principles
  • Is proficient in the languages and environments and tools most commonly used by ARC, including LabVIEW, CVI, TestStand, and Visual SourceSafe, and must have a willingness and aptitude for learning new programming languages as the need arises.
  • Is self-motivated and proactive with a positive attitude and a willingness to be hands-on with engineering projects
  • Works well with an engineering team or independently without the need for technical supervision
  • Is able to generate code in a timely manner that adheres to ARC and industry best practices
  • Is able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure deadlines are met
  • Posses Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education/Training

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or an Associates Degree in related field plus four years of ATE industry related programming experience

Experience

2 to 6 years of ATE industry related programming experience.
